<p>Try getting out of 2dwireframe-- click on the thing on the upper left of the viewport and try selecting something else -- wireframe should be fine.</p>

<p>I like going into Stylemanager-- selecting Multi-Purpose Objects->Material Definitions to make the changes.</p>
