AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Here is a home theater room I am designing.  I can't figure out how to make the projection screen "glow" or "illuminate".  Any suggestions?

tag it as a light source or apply a material with glow.

Since I have a Decal for the screen, the material glow did not work.  I ended up placing an omnidirectional light in front of the screen, 60W.  I made sure that the light was set to Not Visible. It looks better now.

It might look a lot better as a light source.  Make it an area light, make sure to aim it toward the seats, and check the Use Object Color box.  I'm pretty sure this one could look a lot better.  Upload it if you want me to take a shot at it.

I am uploading my dwg with associated textures.  I am not sure if I upload it here in this message or somewhere else.

This works-- there is an upload link under Support if you want to be more private about it.

like Akin said, tag the projection screen as area light, place a decal on top of it and check the "use object color" box. The screen should  illuminate the room with the colors of the decal.

Thanks Ian.  That is what I was missing, the "use object color".  I used the area light on the screen and aimed it toward the seats. I might need to adjust the lighting.  I used 60W white light. I used the Hybrid engine, 380 passes.  Brightness = -0.3, Burn = 0.2

I've had equal results using either method akinlolu mentioned. The monitor on the left has the screen as a light source. The one on the right has the screen as a glow material. Or maybe it's the other way around...... I'll let you guess.

I do turn the color strength down a bit on the glow material decal as needed to make it look good.

I did the following:

  • Changed the screen to a diffuse light source and aimed it toward the theater space.
  • Made the light source visible
  • Changed the intensity to 600 Watts
  • Checked the Use Object Color
  • Turned the brightness down to -.7

I think that's it

With the house lights raised 5x (using channels) and brightness set to -.4

Where can I find documentation on how to use lighting channels?

"Almost certainly.  A fix may be difficult at this point.  The code has not been touched in years."

Reflected background brightness

In Accurender I can turn up the brightness of the reflected background, but when I send the same render to the farm, it renders as the default brightness.Possibly an oversight or a bug?See More
