I had this error on the previous build (downloaded it when it was posted but just got round to putting it on the older machine the day before 227 was posted), and was hoping 227 would correct it but it didn't. I get the error message with ACAD 2008. With ACAD 2009 there's no error message, but it still stalls during the "preparing rendering" stage.
I get the same error message when trying to render a simple sphere. I also get the error message and nonfunctionality when attempting to create a new material. So pretty much the only thing I can do with the program on this system without getting this problem is load the walkabout window.
Uninstalled 227 and went back to 217. Everything seems to be working, including the thumbnails (I forgot to mention that I wasn't having any problem with Explorer thumbnails with 217 on either of my test systems).
Yes. 17.1 (2008) and 17.2 (2009). 2009 has this weird problem where XREFs appear to load and display in walkabout, but not in the render. 2008 seems to be the last version that runs well with AR on the old system.
Wonder where the time come from to do this much detail, unless more than a pair of hands are working on the model. Me I use maps with alpha channels and keep away from close shots like this one or else I will never finish any work, now with the snail of a system am using anyway.
"0295 is up, includes scale factor for preview image and stop after # passes. Haven't gotten to New light channel option in Lights interface yet. Check it out if you have a chance (no worries if not.)"
"Yeah-- I understand. I just think you may find you have a similar problem in this new engine with trying to estimate how many passes will be good enough. That can vary a lot.
You're always going have some error, allocating…"
"The problem is when I'm running several renders over a weekend. How will I know how much time to allocate to each one?
I wouldn't want them to run for the same amount of time, as one may over-cook to no extra benefit, while another is…"
"It's an easy feature to add, but I'm pretty sure with this new version you'll find a time constraint to be more reliable. The rendering below is probably done already, with a noise filter, or close to it."
"I suspect it will take a lot longer without the noise filter.
These similar renders ran for 5 minutes each. nXt performed 127 passes and Studio performed 344 passes.
Incidentally, is it possible to set a render running to a certain number of…"
"Pretty much the only thing sacrificed has been the sandpaper bump, and even then only in certain circumstances. Everything else is preserved nicely including any random noise you add to color maps. Hard to say on performance without the…"
"Reliance on the noise filter does concern me a little.
A lot of my work involves wood grain and fabrics, both of which can have varying degrees of texture which affect the way light is reflected.
With the noise filter off, are renders likely to take…"
