AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I am just getting this setup to have a client pick materials.  Is there a forum that shows how to map a roof so the shingles go the correct direction? Here is the drop box link to the model https://www.dropbox.com/s/u5tsn3woy6vpt58/WT%203d.dwg?dl=0

some of the hips are blocks and the main roof is unioned together.  I was wondering if i had to break up all the different sides into its own 3d objects and then map to it? Or will it work as a solid and i can control the map on each face?

This is not a complex roof. To get started, create two layers for the directions/slope of your roof, with each layer material map oriented to the desired direction.

Attached is a sample model

i don't see the attachment

so explode it and create new solids for each face? that is what i planned on doing but did not know if there was a easier way.  Thank you for your help

You are welcome. Might be. Just find this method easier for me to live with as at times I have about 8 different layers for roof at times.

Perfect, again thank you so much for your time!

Another method that I use is Quick Mapping. Found on the Materials tab.  Only requires a single material, making it easier to try or edit multiple materials.

If your roof planes are individual faces, run the tool, click lower left, upper left and lower right. Pretty simple. The last 2 point only need to be at right angles to the start point. Ortho and UCS are helpful.

I agree, not complex, just a lot of it.

thank you, i ended up finding a lisp file that would make 3d faces and then i was able to extrude those and union them.  the mapping worked great once each plane was its own entity.
