"Type in at the command prompt, "visretain" then 0 as the default is 1 that way the materials too are updated as the xref files are."

"I'm using Version 1.0.358, AutoCAD 2018 File mule1.dwg is a new object with a material assigned. Mule2.dwg xrefs mule1 but doesn't inherit the material and unable to be a material on it."

"If you're trying to render an older model w/ older materials, you probably need to convert the xrefs individually by going into each drawing.  It's been a while since we've had to do this so I can't quite remember."

"thank you, i ended up finding a lisp file that would make 3d faces and then i was able to extrude those and union them.  the mapping worked great once each plane was its own entity. "

"Another method that I use is Quick Mapping. Found on the Materials tab.  Only requires a single material, making it easier to try or edit multiple materials. If your roof planes are individual faces, run the tool, click lower left, upper left…"

"This is not a complex roof. To get started, create two layers for the directions/slope of your roof, with each layer material map oriented to the desired direction. "

Rich Hart replied to Andrew Uno's discussion Help: Need to increase the DPI of nXtRenderings
"The trick to just change the DPI in PhotoShop is to uncheck Resample Image.  Then the number of pixels in the image remains the same. This is explained here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/image-size-resolution.html"

Rich Hart replied to Andrew Uno's discussion Help: Need to increase the DPI of nXtRenderings
"Right. You can use a program like PhotoShop to specify that the DPI is 300. That doesn't change the number of pixels in the image, but simply changes the size that it prints to. You would want to use the same program that your art department…"

"During the first 30 days of the trial period, you can render to any pixel size that you want. So, by setting the paper size to 8.5 x 11.00, you will get a rendering of 2550 x 3300 pixels at 300 DPI, as shown below: After the 30 day trial period,…"
