AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I just saw your newsletter on IES Patterns, etc. Can I use them with AutoCAD?

I am attaching a ZIP file of the 30 IES patterns.

You should be able to unzip these and use them, or any manufacturer IES files from the web with nXt Render. Here are 6 of the 30 patterns.

Here is a link to images of the 30 patterns. For many situations, one of these patterns may be ideal:

To use IES lights with nXtRender, follow these instructions:

Use the following steps to attach an IES file distribution to a light source:

  • Create the light in the usual way.
  • Right click on the light in the list and select Properties... from the menu
  • Change the Light Pattern to Goniometry File
  • Click the Browse... button and select the .ies file.
  • Normally you will want to use the file to define the intensity of the source as well. Click the From File checkbox under Brightness to do this.

You can read more here:

Can I create a new custom light fixture block that I can attach IES info from a manufacturer to?

You should be able to assign the IES light to a light in a block, save it away, and use it in other drawings.

"For compatibility with AutoCAD 2026 you would need to purchase a license upgrade for nXtRender (AccuRender).  As an AR5 license holder you are eligible for a discount which we can give to you if you contact us at support@renderplus.com."
