Object properties empty, can't apply decals

Build 1.0.329 in vanilla AutoCAD 2014. Everything is working fine, except that, as attached image shows, the Object Properties tab says "No Objects Selected" even though a 3DSOLID is selected. Doesn't matter what I select.

Check the _PICKFIRST system variable.  It needs to be set to 1 (on).
