"First thing I would check-- make sure you're drawing isn't using very large coordinates-- i.e. is located far from the origin.  These can result in precision problems in nXt (and other renderers.)  The solution to this is to move…"

HiI have implemented NXT on my old xp 32 worksttion, and it worked fairly good with autocad C3D. but eventully the more I work the slower the PC gets. Also autocad is so blown up with lots of unnecessary applications, that I decided to buy a new workstation also with a better graphics card, as to improve. This new pc will be here next week, and my question is how to transfer the eisting Nxt licence from the 32 bit version to the 64 bit pc. The AutoCad 2013 civil 3 D will be the basis for my…See More

AutoCAD viewport changes

I have some delicate Rendering to make, where Camera and Target are to be found in nature. I can manage to find the correct perspective with lots of helping points in the original picture or oblique photo. So in AutoCAD I make the viewports (VP), all with DVIEW and the respective options for zoom, distance, pan, camera, target etc (mainly by try&fail). Once I have the VP adjusted to the situation I need, I lock it and store it under a VP-name.next time I open the drawing, the situation has…See More

Roy Hirshkowitz replied to Peter Milner's discussion Hidden lighting
"If they're behind a diffuser-- yep-- modeling the diffuser as a light source will get you most of the way there.  The type of lighting that a lot of folks are using, though, is these exposed 3M lighting strips.  They resemble…"

Roy Hirshkowitz replied to Peter Milner's discussion Hidden lighting
"It works pretty well for this-- where the surfaces are diffuse.  Peter's got a more reflective surface which probably would show reflections of the individual light sources in the roll.  It's an interesting problem (and an actual…"

Peter Milner replied to Peter Milner's discussion Hidden lighting
"Most hidden LED strip light is now sold from a roll by the metre. This is the sort of stuff we use. I've tried using a rectangular area light, but that gives me an unrealistic rectangular reflection. I may have to resort to Photoshop to fake…"

Roy Hirshkowitz replied to Peter Milner's discussion Hidden lighting
"You might try modeling them with a hidden, rectangular, area light. Many of these LED strip lights are encased in a plastic diffusing tube for this very reason. Make sure the light is facing the right direction."
