AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

We're up to Build 0082.  This new major release of the AccuRender and nXt product line now includes a plugin that works entirely within AutoCAD just like previous versions. It's got a ton of new features and is available for free for a while.  Take a look and let me know what you think.

See the Download->AccuRender Studio menu items for more details.

Happy New Year ,Roy.

Is nXtRender required to be installed on the system to run Accurender Studio?

Sounds dumb, I guess, but I want to separate the system running the nXtRender program from a system running Studio.

Rich Rosemann

Not required no-- but you won't get any legacy data if nxtrender is not running-- just AutoCAD data.  It will work fine, though.

There really isn't much contact between the two-- so you won't mess up anything by running them both.  I would recommend making copies of any production work you're doing since this is an early project, but the risks are quite small with the way I'm handling the new stuff (no custom objects, etc.)  I did include an ArRemoveData command to strip any AccuRender Studio data out of the drawing as a bit of paranoid safety measure.

Good morning Roy.

The reason I asked the question is that after installing the program and loading the correct netload for acad 13 and entering the command arStudio, a error window pops up noting that

"Perspective View is required".

Thinking (tightly) inside the box, I set the view as perspective and run the command again. No change of course, just grabbing at straws.

So, what am I missing?

Rich Rosemann

I get the same and have to change the AutoCAD view from parallel to perspective. Then it works.

Thanks for changing your view to perspective, Peter.

Now ArStudio runs on my system to.

Some times it needs a little external help.

Rich Rosemann

It needs a perspective view the first time it's run.  It will remember its last view after that.  Use the perspective command.

Here's a quick comparison between nXt and ArStudio.

These both ran for 40 minutes.

ArStudio isn't picking up the material textures when it renders, but they do show in the material editor.

Also the ceiling hidden lighting and spotlights don't seem to have translated.

Can I get a copy of this one?

I've just sent it to you via WeTransfer.

Got it-- thanks.

iggest problem is units aren't set-- for some reason. Changed ddunits to millimeters (this will also affect performance in big ways.)

I changed the glass to refractive and checked thin-- that doesn't have much affect.  And I manually added the rug material texture.  The back wall doesn't seem to have a texture on it.  Investigating more now.

This is after 3 minutes or so:

From what I can tell-- the rug texture is not assigned in nXt-- nor is the back concrete wall (I can't even find this material.)

"Yes it's possible using the walkabout feature. There is an option that allows you to pick a walkthrough spline as your camera path and there is another that makes you glide from side to side across the scene."

"This is a 'wow' work. You deserve an applause. The light balance is very okay, and your choice of textures is applaudable.  I am so sorry for the late reply the other time. I still don't know how to bring in textured models along…"
