AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

You can add a ground plane, but how do you set the height or add a material to it like you could in AR4?

Thanks,

Jeff

It's an AutoCAD object-- just move it up in the Z direction.  Material assignment works like any other object-- dragging and dropping to the object or layer may be easiest.  Set the thing's layer like any other object.

Thanks. How do I set the Ground Plane at a certain elevation. If I choose the Ground Plane and look at its Properties there is no parameter for Elevation. You can't query the Ground Plane to check its Elevation either by choosing a spot using ID.

List

When I list the Ground Plane I get...

                  ARACGROUNDPLANE  Layer: "ELEV-TXT"
                            Space: Model space
                   Color: 1 (red)    Linetype: "BYLAYER"
                   Handle = a04a

 AccuRender nXt Ground Plane Object
 Height:          12324.788425

My units are set to Architectural. What are units is the value above set in? If I list other objects I get a Z value that is in Architectural units.

The height is in inches.

I don't use the groundplane now as much as I did in AR4. It's just not easy to put it where you want it. OSNAPS and point filters don't work with it, so you're left with moving it with it's one grip if you want to locate it accurately without typing in coordinates. If you snap the grip way off center of the model, it is difficult to find it the next time you wan to move the GP as it stays where you snapped it, not where the center of the GP is located.

I usually just use a simple surface if I want a ground plane now.

yes you can add a material to a groundplane , for the hight play on autocad with a perspective view and add a background......

other is try to use surfnetwork in autocad (2013) to create a  groudplane
