AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I've just installed the latest update for the render farm and now it doesn't work.

When I try to launch the manager it says "The application failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.

Checking up, it seem that the computer may not be running the correct version of C++.

Can anyone help.

In the meantime I will try to reinstall the older version of the render farm.

Well it looks like this only happens when I try to launch the Farm Monitor and it happens with the old version too.

The old Farmer software works fine, but the latest update fails to launch at all.

I've managed to get all machines up and running again on the old version and I'll wait for feedback before attempting to upgrade again.

I may need your help to debug this one-- a quick look at the installer doesn't show any problems.  I'll investigate a bit more this morning.

You did actually run the installer on all of the machines, right?

I was going to, but when I found it didn't launch on the first one, I stopped there.

That's wise-- so if I'm understanding things--

The Farm Monitor, whether old or new, does not run on the node you tried.

The new Farmer does not run on node, the old one does.

The old Farm Monitor runs on your main machine.

Is this correct?

Do both old and new run on your main machine?

Spot on.

The old and new farm monitors both work on my main machine.

I'm not sure if the new farmer does though. If you like, I can test it.

If you get a chance-- but I'm 99% sure it will run on the main machine.

Something is missing from the installer that is present on your main machine.  The reason it's on the main machine is very likely due to other software having been installed-- such as AutoCAD.  The nodes are likely cleaner-- less installed software but also a lower probability of having some system software I've left off.

What would be more helpful, but only if you have time, is installing the new farm on a node and running depends.exe on the file nXtFarmMonitor64.exe.  It should let me know which system files are missing.  You can get depends.exe here.  You'll want the x64 version.  I'm interested in any dlls that come up red on the tree control.  Again, only if you have time.

Not a problem.  I'll do it tomorrow as I have a stack of renderings running at the moment.

Thanks-- in the meantime I'm going to try installing the thing on a machine here-- then I'll have Scott at McNeel install onto a clean machine over there.

Just installed the thing on a Microsoft Surface Pro without much on it-- getting the same side x side error with the Farm Monitor so I probably don't need you to run depends on that one.  My farmer (nxtfarmer64.exe and nxt64.exe) does run-- so if yours really isn't running it would help to see depends.exe on both of these files.
