AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I have tried without success to use the "don't shadow" check box.

I had assumed it is meant to eliminate unwanted shadows from objects that make up a light fixture.

Is there any documentation about the use of the settings under the Luminaire tab?

Thanks,
James

It's supposed to prevent pieces of a luminaire from casting shadows wrt the light source in that luminaire. Make sure your entire luminaire (any light sources and additional geometry) is inside a block. If it's still not working, put together a simple example. This stuff has not been tested extensively.
Does the accurender light source need to be a part of that block for it to work?
Yes-- a luminaire in nXt is defined as at least one light source + additional geometry all encapsulated in a block.
I'm having the same problem with a pendant fixture. Not only can't I stop the parts from casting shadows, the whole thing insists on glowing... even though glow is not checked.
As soon as I included the nXt light source into the block the luminaire functions worked as advertised.
You'll need to re-create the block-- tag only the light source object as a light and tag the other parts as non-shadow-casters as appropriate. When you insert the thing as a block it should show up as a luminaire and should behave correctly. Send a simple example if you can't get it to work.

"Thanks for your kind words. Yes, all plants are generated with nxt plant-editor. I have used leaves from Marc Chaumier's plant library. (Download/ Content + Entourage)"
