Adding materials in ACA 2013

Just started on ACA 2013 today with 310 build, drawn a simple room using the wall tool but can't seem to add a material to it? Anyone know the solution?

If you've never worked with any version of ACA before this article explains how to assign materials to ACA components (see the bottom of the page.)  If this is a problem that's specific to Autocad 2013-- i.e. you already know how to assign materials to components and have done this but it's still not working-- see the bottom of this thread for a possible solution.  Let me know-- I'm traveling so I may not be able to check in frequently.
