AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I am running Autocad Architecture 2011.  I have built a 3-D model and am using the trial version of NXT to test the program.  I have placed all of the componants of of my walls, doors, and window styles on individual layers and have applied NXT materials to each of the layers. When I hit the render button to see what I have only a couple of extruded base autocad objest render with its assigned material.  The Wall, door and window componants render as though they do not have a material assigned to them.  Is there something I must do to the wall, door and window styles for them to recognize the materials.  For example to create a rendering prior to NXT I had to set up a display configuration through Autocad architecture for the render process to work properly.  Thanks for your help, Todd

tnx, i think i got it. working in paralel with revit and acad

there is an extra step inbetween, when you create a new def/name for the different finishes for let's say a window, and to THAT name assign an nxt material.

regards

Nope-- nothing to do with this original thread at all.  Working in IRender for Revit is different than working in nXt for ACA.  Material names are not important.  Assigning materials to individual ACA components requires following the procedure outlined in the link above.

first rightclick on in our case a window, choose edit style

then go to materials, to the right u have 2 small icons, click on the LOWER, get another dialog box, as in snapshot

Ah yes-- you're correct.  Components need to have materials.  The procedure in the help file attached nXt render materials to ACA materials.

quite silly, i cannot reply to myself in order to describe the workflow

anyhoh, however step nr 3, after

1.rightclicking on the window

2.choosing edit style

3.clicking on materials

4.here comes a confusing default text, in blue, "new material" , this should not be an accurender material, is just a finish name for the aca component, lets say, "white paint"

5.now assign to all window components sensible finish names, white paint for painted wood, and glass for transparent glass

5.now click on the upper icon as in the attached pic

6.  now , in the new oppened dialog box, click again on the little icon to the right

7.and NOW, at last, you will be presented with a list of accurender nxt materials, u choose lets say tinted glass if the previous selected finish was for aca component glass, or whatever paint colour if frame, sash or muntins were selected, and u intend to have them all in the same colour.

a nobrainer? NOT
