AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I am running Autocad Architecture 2011.  I have built a 3-D model and am using the trial version of NXT to test the program.  I have placed all of the componants of of my walls, doors, and window styles on individual layers and have applied NXT materials to each of the layers.When I hit the render button to see what I have only a couple of extruded base autocad objest render with its assigned material.  The Wall, door and window componants render as though they do not have a material assigned to them.  Is there something I must do to the wall, door and window styles for them to recognize the materials.  For example to create a rendering prior to NXT I had to set up a display configuration through Autocad architecture for the render process to work properly.  Thanks for your help, Todd

Here's the wiki on assigning materials.  The part you'll be most interested in will be towards the bottom-- Assigning Materials to ACA Components.  nXt works more closely with ACA than previous versions, so it's no longer necessary to split your components onto different layers (although it is possible (I think) if you'd rather do it this way.)

Let me know if you need more help.

I read the wiki and folowed the instructions with out any trouble.  However the materials I have assigned are still not showing up in the rendered view.  Any other ideas as to wy this might be?

Thanks, Todd

Send a simple example.  You can attach it to a message or use the upload link.  In either case let me know, in very precise terms, what you're trying to do.  It's possible it's the problem described by Jorge-- but this is usually not the issue when we're assigning to ACA components.

Roy, sorry for the delayed response.  I was out of the office the end of last week.  I went through the wiki a couple of times hoping that i missed something on the first time through but did not discover what I am missing.  If I did it correctly I have uploaded a ACA 2001 cad file with my test model in it.  As stated before I originally tried to assign the materials via layers, then tried to assign the layers per the wiki you provided the link for.  i do not know if it matters or not but this building was originally rendered using AR4.  I made a copy of it, deleted all material assignments whch were via layer assigments and tried treating it as though it was a new project.  Thanks again for all of lyour help!!

Looks like you assigned the nXt material to the ACA material correctly-- you just didn't assign the ACA material to the components of your model.  For example-- to get the picture below:

  1. Open StyleManager
  2. Select Architectural Objects->Window Styles->Casement
  3. On the Materials tab click on the Material Definition for each component (should say Standard if you have not yet selected anything.)
  4. Select the correct material from the popdown list.
  5. Render

Roy, When I did as you suggested there where only 4 materials to choose from and they were not the NXT materials that I have created for this project.  They appeared to be the defualt materials from Acad not my NXT materials.  How to I get my NXT materials to show up in the list and be available for selection?

Style Manager->Multi-Purpose Objects->Material Definitions.

Create a new one & give it a name-- check Style Override-- and provide a render material.

Roy, I have been playing around with this some more and found that not even my simple extruded Acad objects such as my side walk is displaying in the rendered view the material I assigned to its layer.  I am now wndering if there is a system setting somewhere that may be affecting this that I am not aware of.  Any thoughts on this? Thanks again, Todd.

Tnx guys

I managed to apply a nxt material to a wall (orange) , but when I try to apply white to an ACA door , everything gets orange, wall and door.

any hints?

regards

Follow the procedure for ACA objects outlined in my first post.  Send a sample if it's still not working.

I might be a retard but I dont get it

regards

Did you read the wiki article?  Just in case here's the link again-- see the section towards the bottom of the page on assigning material to ACA objects.  Let me know which part you don't understand.
