AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Has anyone done any testing with either of these updates yet with NXT? I don't want any surprises, they always come at the worst times.

I have both now, if no one has looked at them yet I can install both here now and take a look later on.

Thanks

Roy.  I am not using any clipping planes.  It's a simple overall model render.  Here is a quick shot of my MEP model...  All I did was loaded nXt in MEP 2012; successfully.  Then clicked the Render button.  That is when I received the fatal error in MEP.

Yep.  I'm just trying to figure out if I need to download and install the latest MEP.  Looks like I may have to.  As I recall, ACA, was able to deal with some of the MEP stuff-- I may start by grabbing this product since I'll be more likely to deal with it in the future.

Send your model for testing--either attach it here or use the upload link.

Also, try some very simple things for me if you have time.  Render with a blank model, for example.  Render with no MEP objects-- say a sphere. etc..

Roy.  OK.  I started a blank dwg and rendered a sphere and other objects just fine.  So, I went back to my simple model.  The building renders fine.  See below:

I then tried rendering the piping objects, I received the fatal error.  I removed all the materials from the piping objects and pump, and still received the fatal error.  I started a blank dwg and routed a simple piece of pipe.  No material added, clicked render and received the fatal error.  For some reason, nXt does not like the piping (MEP) objects for rendering, but does like the Architecture objects for rendering.
Thanks-- send a model that fails for testing purposes.  Make sure it's in a "ready to fail" state so I can just push the button to test.
Here you go Roy.  Simple Pipe Route.  I click the Render button and receive the fatal error.

Hi All

I've been using Architect 2012 this morning and so far no issues, model built without any problems. Materials applied also without issue. You would not even know that it was different than version 2011, except for a couple of small features and changes to controls. Like most of their updates they giveth & they taketh away, for every good new idea or inovation they come up with they take some control or feature & make it harder to get to or use.

Rendering as we speak, just a couple passes in & there seems to be no problems.

I'm running Architecture 2012 - 64 bit, NXT - 64 bit, Windows 7 Ultimate.

Hope this helps.

If you get a chance Wayne, could you grab the test file Paul just uploaded and see if it renders in ACA 2012?  This will help me determine which product I need to nab from Autodesk.
I'm not sure Wayne will be able to see the objects in ACA 2012?  They are MEP objects, but it's worth a try.  I'm running MEP 2012-64 bit, nXt-64 bit, in Windows 7.  Again, I have no issues of rendering in MEP 2011.  Thanks again.
I was able to download, open & draw in the file. As expected I was not able to manipulate the pipes. When I hit render the file did give a fatal exception error. I did not have any issues with the file I was working on in Architecture 2012. I also have vanilla AutoCAD 2012, I expect it to work fine but this evening I will set it to render the same file overnight.

Good-- as expected.

Autodesk now includes object enablers so that any of the vertical flavors can read the others' stuff.  This is so that your Mech. E. (for example) can send his pipes to the Architect and everything still works-- the Architect can also send architectural objects to the engineer. You can't edit the stuff very much but it still display correctly.

This test just verified for me that I can download the ACA flavor and still reproduce the error-- IOW I probably don't need to bother with the Mech version.

Wayne-- you're unlikely to encounter any problems.  Also, AutoCAD-based problems are only likely to occur when you first start a rendering.  Once I've got the model and am off and running AutoCAD doesn't have much to say about it.

No issues to report with rendering my model with straight AutoCAD 2012. It looks like it's pretty stable and the issues that seem to have come up are with the mechanical pipes/objects in that version.

I'll be keeping 2010 or 2011 around just in case; since the default file type is a 2010 and both 10 & 11 seem to play well with those things created in 12.
