AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Having trouble getting the desired effect on the attached church interior. Would like to have the cross on the wall lit up from behind. Maybe I'm not letting it run enough passes or the light(s) settings are incorrect? Thanks for your help...John

Chas - That's worth way more that 2 cents! Did you make the cross a light as well? Enlighten me...Thanks - John

I edited your model of the cross and made it a shell about 3/4" thick with the back open. I then replaced the omnidirectional light you had with three 1" tubes, one for the vertical portion and one on each side. I nested these within the cavity of the cross. I would actually build the cross with a white semi transleucent solid surface material and use fluorescent tubes to cast the halo on the wall and a series of four directional linear lights from optikinectics to illuminate the cross to give it the glow.

I copied you flat white material and made a new one with a little bit of glow added and applied it to the cross. Moved the ceiling lights that were on the channel 1 to reside with the ceiling lights on channel 2 and used the channel 1 to adjust the amount of material glow.

I can send you back the model as I have it if you wish.

Chas - The reply option never appeared below your post...?

I love this forum! Very heplful. Yes, please post the model. Didn't know you can use channels to adjust the glow portion of a material. Thanks again for your help and time - John

The forum has a limited thread depth.   Just reply to the level above when you run out of reply buttons.
Thanks Roy. I appreciate this forum and all involved...John

I uploaded the file to Roy.

I reassigned some of the ceiling lights to share channel #2 to leave channel #1 void of any light fixtures so it can be used soley for adjusting the material glow.

In the lighting under the advanced tab you can change the material glow channel to be whatever channel # you want.

Link to Chas' altered version.
Thanks again Chas. Good stuff to know. I'll wait for an email from Roy and post some results later. May look at using the volumetric fog too - John
Too cool...Thanks guys.
