If you can see them in the autocad scene then Nxt should see and render them too. Can you see the Xref object in Walkabout window too. Try typeing render in AutoCads' command prompt and see if they render.
Normally xrefs work just fine.  Send a simple example of one that's failing and I'll take a look at it.  The easiest way to send something is to zip up the required files and use the upload link.  In the comments field, explain what I need to do to produce the error.

all my xrefs were loaded in the model.  If i change the xref it asks me to update and I do but the materials do not,    all geometry does but not the materials

I did figure out if i detach the xref and reattach the materials do come in

Unfortuantly i re materialed have the items but atleast the rest will be easy

thanks

Marty

Type, "Visretain" in autocad command prompt and change the variable from 1 to 0. This makes the materials assigned to the original file updated where there are xref in your present scene.
thank you   I will try that and let you know  it would make it alot easier to work outside the base model and in the xrefs
Actually that is what I do too. Open a new drwaing set the visretain variable to zero and start bringing in the Xref. That way is I go back to make changes on the origin drawing and save (change materials, edit the object etc) it updates in the ref. drawing  when it detects the change and ask be to reload the modified file.

CAN WE GET PETER MILNER TO TRAIN SOME OF US FOR A TOKEN ?

Good day, forum members,I was thinking that we could each, if interested, contribute a significant token to give Peter Milner and David to train us virtually in nxt render for Autocad. Am not sure he still uses it but the experience he has spanning over 20 years cannot be underestimated. I wish the forum co-ordinators could look into this. So that more of us will produce realistic renders with the paid version of nxt render and we will be able to encourage other users of other more advanced…See More

3D_Replication final

I created this replication of one of Peter Milner's renders, not with AI but with sketchup (with the matchnewphoto tool), autocad and nxtrender.Critics and comments are welcome.
