AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

HDRI background doesn't show up in the walkabout view. This makes it impossible to position and scale correctly.

Can we not have a positioning system similar to that with AR4 where you just drag the edges of the box rather than the X/Y offset and X/Y scale boxes which are trial and error?

I concur, controls are not what they ought to be.
Just for consideration: would not be helpful if there was an entity, visible from AutoCAD, which represents the background? Similar to groundplane... you see it in AutoCAD, you can move it using AutoCAD commands... I am always struggling with background placement... for planar background placement, I would love to have a rectangle, representing true dimensions of a photograph used - I would then move, rotate and scale it to fit exactly where it should be...
I don't think that would work because the background has to remain planar to the view so it can't be connected to the model.
The best solution would be to directly manipulate the background in the walkabout view using grips to move and scale it.

Peter.
You have to have different background per each view/camera anyway ... soI was thinking of "Schemes" - similar to AR4 ... each view linked to its specific background and lighting setings.
Is it possible to save multiple backgrounds (together with placement information) now, or do I have to manipulate the same background each time I switch to the view it belongs to?
If you're doing multiple views or animation, you need to map your background cylindrically or spherically.
Maybe there could be a way to link the planar background to the camera.

Peter
on animations, we did not have much luck yet neither with cylindrical nor spherical background, so we usually do animations without the bitmap baxkground.
on views, we do photo integration quite often, so any tool that would simplify the process would be greatly appreciated.
Another problem w. background: in order to do proper photo integration, I hae just one photograph...but I need proper reflections on glazing, so that one photograph is not enough for the whole background...
Peter do you tried it with wired view?
Yes. That doesn't work either.

Peter
Strange-- this is what I get:

Not sure what's up here-- it's clearly creating the RGB image since it's displaying it on the button-- I'll need to think about it some.

You've compressed the Y to half scale-- if you return it to defaults do you see the image?
Still no image.
I can't see any type of background in the walkabout window.
Strange-- you can send me the hdr via the upload link if you like-- I can try it here.

Do you get an image when you use a regular bitmap?
No.
I'm not getting anything in the render either.
