Normally most fireflies are gone by 100 - 200 passes these days. My best bet for the culprit is the floor lamp-- something about it's construction. Just guessing, though. I'm happy to take a look at this one.
@George: thank you very much George. Look, this image took me almost 69 hours to render, 910 passes on a Core i7 920 2.67GHz (8 cores), and the more it rendered, the the less the fireflies tents to disappear, both the luminous ones and the dark ones. So... I really don't know which class of hardware does one need (and time!!) to obtain an aceptable image!
@Marc: thank you very much, Marc. The cow carpet is a simple decal 3mm higher than the floor. Actually, I don't like very much the LED Fibonacci lamp on the ceiling, but that is a creation of the client so I had to put it in the composition. All visible metallic elements of the piano are made of brass, and I supose that when one have a Steinway & Sons grand piano tends to take many cares on it!
Very nice rendering indeed! Still, there are lots of fireflies, how can one get rid of them? I couldn't draw a conclusion when they are going to appear and when they aren't. Is there any general tip to avoid them somehow?
Very nice picture. Is the cow skin a decal? And how did you give the little thickness? Bump? Displacement? Real thickness? Or just a little space between the skin and the floor, as we do for carpet. Nice composition. Just one very little detail: I find the hinge of the piano, a little bit too shiny. But when the piano is new, it's normal ;o)
