AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Thick toughened glass always displays a dark green edge even when the glass is clear.

The only way, I've found, to simulate this in nXt is to add a green glass edge to the model.

Are there settings within the material transparency properties to do this properly rather than faking it?

I run into this as well. Typically I'll add a touch of Red & Blue to the glass material to simulate the tempered/toughened color. It does add a bit of color to the glass, but it seems pretty natural to the eye.

I don't know if we've got enough horsepower right now to simulate this physically-- the green in the edge of most modern float glass is due to two factors-- (1) there is a slight green tint to the glass (iron impurities, I believe) and (2) the edge of the glass is exhibiting a lot of total internal reflection and therefore subsurface attenuation or scattering, which darkens the green tint significantly.

I'll give it a try this weekend if I have a chance-- but I would start with a slight green color similar to what Garret suggests.  Sub-surface attenuation may be required (this will work better with the hybrid engine).  Just a guess, anyway.  What we certainly do not handle right now is spectral shifts due to scattering. Something for the future.

If it can be achieved, it would be useful to have it as an option either on the material or on the object. Only to be used when absolutely necessary.

OBJ Plant Issue - Diffuse Maps

Hi to anyone;maybe a similar issue as Mr.Holz announced recently, (PBR Texture question):-added a obj. plant via 'Textured Mesh Objects' widget-reassigned maps (materials showed up, but with no maps attached, (although mtl. files are  in the same folder as corresponding maps and obj files)-tried to render (see 'result')So my question is: Does anybody knew about how to handle Diffuse Maps in nXt, i suspect there is no interpretation of the UV-Coordinates?Any hints and help kindly appreciated!…See More

"Thanks for your kind words. Yes, all plants are generated with nxt plant-editor. I have used leaves from Marc Chaumier's plant library. (Download/ Content + Entourage)"
