AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I have a licensed version of NXT on my laptop.  We have a spare computer with AutoCad that I would like to run renderings on while I am in the office and working on other drawings on my laptop.  I have some questions and I can't just load up the farm on the other computer because our IT department has everything locked down so we need to get them to install new software and prove that software is legal and licensed.

First, is the copy I have licensed for only one computer or is is one of those one computer at a time deals where I can legally install it on my laptop and also the desktop?

I see the farm is free for two computers.  If I can not install the full NXT on the second computer can I install just the farm on it and render or will that computer need both NXT and the farm installed to render with it.

Or in short, what is the best legal way if there is one for me to keep NXT on my laptop and be able to run renders on the desktop while I can still run AutoCad for other projects on the laptop?

You can install the license on multiple machines but you are not permitted to "run" the same license on multiple machines simultaneously. Running a license means loading nXt into AutoCAD.

For example, in your situation:

You can render on one machine and work in AutoCAD without nXt loaded.
You cannot render on one machine and work or render with nXt on the other.

Currently, the software does not check for duplicate licenses on the network. We may change this behavior at some point.

If you need to run multiple sessions of nXt simultaneously, then you'll need a second license. The farm
OK. That works for me since we don't do a whole lot of rendering here. I just need to set up the job on my laptop, let it churn on the desktop for hours or days, and get back to electical drawings and spreadsheets on the laptop.

I think your answer on the farm part got cut short.
Sorry-- I meant to continue. The farm does require a licensed nXt to "feed" it tasks-- so you'll essentially run into the same problem. It is a legitimate way to render with both computers simultaneously, though.
Once Nxt is installed on a system with the farm version all you need is to install the farm on the other system, even with AutoCad or Nxt, once the farm is there (on the other system) and both system and see each other on the network, the farm will work just fine.

"Found 'Textured Mesh Support' only works with obj and 3ds Files which do not contain PBR Maps. To 'obj' converted newer 3ds do not render in nXt :-("

OBJ Plant Issue - Diffuse Maps

Hi to anyone;maybe a similar issue as Mr.Holz announced recently, (PBR Texture question):-added a obj. plant via 'Textured Mesh Objects' widget-reassigned maps (materials showed up, but with no maps attached, (although mtl. files are  in the same folder as corresponding maps and obj files)-tried to render (see 'result')So my question is: Does anybody knew about how to handle Diffuse Maps in nXt, i suspect there is no interpretation of the UV-Coordinates?Any hints and help kindly appreciated!…See More

"Thanks for your kind words. Yes, all plants are generated with nxt plant-editor. I have used leaves from Marc Chaumier's plant library. (Download/ Content + Entourage)"
