AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Well, nobody seems to start a discussion here, so this must be the kick off i suppose.

What am i doing wrong since i don't see any reflections when setting the sky to colour and image in the pathtracer. Auto and hdmi works allright. did i miss something?

Also typing "nXt" in the new build doesn't do anything, i'll stick with typing "ar5"

Good catch-- the Path Tracer doesn't support reflected or refracted RGB color. It's a more rigorous algorithm which requires luminance input only. (I don't really recommend using reflected color in the standard engine either-- the calculation ends up being pretty messy-- but it does sort of work.)

The Path Tracer does support using color backgrounds via an alpha channel-- it should do the compositing for you.

nXt should work-- I've tested it on all the platforms here. First-- let's make sure your build identifies itself as 222 in the About box. Which platform are you using (include 32 or 64)?
Thanks for the answer, i know what to do now.

about the "nxt" thing, i use the 222 build allright. acad 2010 64 bit. should i do something else first then simply typing "nxt"?
Which OS? Are you an administrator on your machine?

windows 7 as administrator.
If you're comfortable you can check some registry keys for me using regedit.

These keys may exist in two different hives HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

The start of the key is Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\r18.0 which is for 2010

The next portion will be something like ACAD-####:### which identifies the vertical version (e.g. ACA) and the localized language.

After that look for Applications\ACCURENDER\Commands. Your should see three commands listed there:

AR5
ARNXT
NXT

Again, if you're comfortable, let me know what you find.
everything looks allright here except for the commands portion, i only see AR5 and ARNXT
Is it possible you're running two different versions of AccuRender nXt? It does re-register everytime it loads-- so installing 222 and running 221 might cause the registry to revert. I'm running out of ideas here.

Manually unloading the application in autocad helps. After that i can use the "nxt" command to load it again. Does that means i'm running two versions? i tought that installing a new version deleted the old one.
Stranger still-- I'm not sure I allow the thing to be unloaded.

Yes, a complete uninstall is performed first. Something got confused in your case, though. It shouldn't happen unless you manually moved the thing from one folder to another. You can check whether any of the demand load keys are different--

HKEY_CURRENT_USER -AND- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R18.0\ACAD-####:###\Applications\ACCURENDER

value = LOADER holds a path to the product.
value holds the correct path to the product. I never moved the programm from one folder to another.

Now i manually changed the value in the commands section from AR to NXT and that did the job. Since changing things in regedit is very dangerous i switched back to the old settings. Don't know if this does something else then just changing the command from AR5 to NXT.
It's OK to manually change these keys-- you can add a third command in the same format as the other two without a problem. Remember that you have to change both HKLM and HKCU.

I can't really figure out much to do here except wait and see if others have similar problems. Those registry keys should be written during installation and everytime you run the product. The fact that that's not happening is very interesting. There may be some security on your machine that I don't undertand.

Can everyone else type "nxt" and have the product load?
Yes and it loads. Win 7 32 bit OS.

CAN WE GET PETER MILNER TO TRAIN SOME OF US FOR A TOKEN ?

Good day, forum members,I was thinking that we could each, if interested, contribute a significant token to give Peter Milner and David to train us virtually in nxt render for Autocad. Am not sure he still uses it but the experience he has spanning over 20 years cannot be underestimated. I wish the forum co-ordinators could look into this. So that more of us will produce realistic renders with the paid version of nxt render and we will be able to encourage other users of other more advanced…See More
