AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I recently loaded the latest build on Tuesday, Sept.14th.  The system seems to become unstable and cannot continue in a random fashion.  I try to load the 3D model into the rendering window, and it says it cannot continue.

My computer is healthy...knock on wood.

Also, in this latest build The icons for the fnishes do not show up.  It's like shooting in the dark to load a finish without an image to quickly check which one you want.

I am using ACAD architecture 2010, Win 7, 64 bit.

Any thoughts?  I am trying to meet a deadline for Friday.

Thank you!

:-)

For now I will suggest go back to the most stable build. Am having that problem too but I believe I can live with it since I have a fairly good idea what most of my materials look like.

Build 224 is a good places to start.
Roy could we a roll back to the previous-like action like the days of AR3, for situations like this?
Hi Mark-- still traveling-- I'll be back at it tomorrow. Make sure you've got 226-- it was looking fairly bulletproof after a flurry of activity.
If you mean the icons don't show up in the material editor palette, then you almost certainly have an earlier build since that was a known issue that (hopefully) is now resolved. If you mean that some icons are not showing up in explorer that's on my list to investigate (tomorrow).
Roy,

Thanks for the response. The icons are not showing up in explorer. When transefered into the material editor they do show up.

I am trying to find a sequence as to when it becomes unstable. I will have to work around it for now.

Thank you

Mark
Hmmm... I'm definitely getting icons w/ Win 7 64. I'll check some more-- but at the moment they seem to be showing up. Try logging off and back on.
I have noticed 2 issues with the materials preview.

1 Build 225 the materials in NXT would not preview correctly.

2 Build 226 When loading a material already in libraries then you no longer get a preview there unless it was saved with build 226.

Both I believe are correctable bugs if I had to guess.
Also Build 226, if you click the render widow a 2nd time it will crash immediately.

Windows 7, Architecture 2011, Build 226 all 64 bit.

Thanks
A couple of other issues I noticed:

1) When you add or delete a solid, then reload the model into the walkabout window, the old entities still show up....but it does indeed render correctly, showing the updated entities.

2) When you add a layer in autocad, it does not update in the NXT materials layer list.

1-- This is AutoCAD-- so display settings may change the behavior here. Try this. In an empty drawing-- draw a sphere and launch WalkAbout. Draw a second sphere. Close WalkAbout and launch again. You should see two. It may make a difference which Visual style you have in your main viewport. Try 3D WF or Realistic if you can't get the WA display to update in the example above. We've had occasional reports of this but haven't been able to find anything definitive.

2-- There's a right click manual Refresh on the layer list for this.
Wayne-- there are a few situations where I wouldn't expect thumbnails in the Material palette.

(1) Older drawings which used ar3/4 materials do not generate thumbnails for these automatically.
(2) Drawings saved using 225 when the bug was present won't have them.
(3) Older material libs converted to nXt format before I added thumbnail gen. to the converter.

I'm still trying to figure out if we've got additional problems here. I'll do some more searching around when I get a chance. Let me know if you've got an example that you suspect does not fit any of the three categories mentioned above.
(1) Older drawings which used ar3/4 materials do not generate thumbnails for these automatically. Yes this is true, but once I edit the in ME via nxt the thumbnails shows in the palette. I save the autocad file and close. When next I open the drawing the thumbnails are there in the palatte. Now i keep having the re-edit the same materials every time I open the same drawing to continue working on it.
The issue with the material pallete itself was in build 225. The issue with material preview in build 226 is when you load a material and get an explorer window, before I was getting preview or thumbnails now I can get neither only a icon with the name. Hopefully this description makes sense.

thanks Roy
One note: You do not get a thumbnail in explorer, however when it drops in the material editor, you can edit the material...once edited, the actual material thumbnail does eventually show up in the material editor. (but materials never show up in explorer).
