advanced rendering for AutoCAD
Hi All
Question:- I'm looking for an option about how to get the best image for my time.
Do I choose a small pixels resolution and up the render passes to get the best image or large pixel resolution and as many passes as time allows. There has to be a sweet spot.
At what resolution size does nxt start have negative effect on time.
Case 1 single rendered image
Current job is a window lourve for a client (500mmx500mm) no background. . Using studio in lighting (looks great). 42 separte images required. Resolution is 3000x3000 pixels. get image I want after 12-20 passes. 25 mins per render. Producing for a A4-A3 data sheet print.
Comment - I feel like a should dumb down the res and up the passes and save time? Will I get a better image for time ratio.
Case 2 animation for web based fly around (same image)
Again the job is a window lourve for a client (500mmx500mm) no background. . Using studio (looks great). 42 separte images required. Resolution is 800x800 pixels. get image I want after 10 passes. 24 shots to made the movie. Producing for a website movie .
Comment - Again what is the sweet spot with resolution vs passes?
Info - Computer AMD phenom quad core 965 with 8GB Ram, both 32bit and 64bit windows running.
Thankfull for your comments on this issue................
Wish list
A "scale to fit" button in the rendering pass box of the walkthur would help. When I use the zoom in and zoom out button never get it to fit right.

Rendering time is linearly proportional to the number of pixels. Multiply both image dimension in pixels to get this number. For example-- 3000 x 3000 gives you 9,000,000-- 800 x 800 gives you 640,000. Expect the first example to be about 14x slower than the second.
Don't know about a sweet spot. 9 MPixels is rarely a good idea-- I would definitely try to avoid that. You can upsample in PhotoShop before printing.

So bring down the resolution A.
Will try a test and see if the results are same will more passes.
