AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I'm not at my desk right now but have a quick question. My client is having problems with the material colors I have right now matching manufactuer cologetrs. The only thing they have is an old .mli file which I don't have an old version of autocad to open it with. My question is, what is going to be the easiest method to get a base to work with in accurender with these old textures?

.mlib files can be converted into materials and folders using a tool in the Widgets menu.  The procedure is outlined here.

Do keep in mind that the engine is different, though, so colors may shift a little depending on the lighting.  Some materials may require manual adjustment.

I tried that and it just sits at converting library with no activity. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to give it some time but this is a 7k file we are talking about. I wouldn't think it would take that long to convert. Also not sure if this is relevant or not but I think this was a material library I used from back in autocad 2002 days and not specifically with accurender.

Ah-- it is relevant-- .mlib files are ours (legacy versions of AccuRender)-- .mli files were old AutoCAD AVE render material files.  I don't think we can do anything with these.

Ok so best bet at this point would be recreating from rgb color base right?

Yes-- like I said it may require a little tweaking as well.  Have an example playground scene ready with typical lighting in order to evaluate the materials.  Render at low-resolution so you don't go crazy.

CAN WE GET PETER MILNER TO TRAIN SOME OF US FOR A TOKEN ?

Good day, forum members,I was thinking that we could each, if interested, contribute a significant token to give Peter Milner and David to train us virtually in nxt render for Autocad. Am not sure he still uses it but the experience he has spanning over 20 years cannot be underestimated. I wish the forum co-ordinators could look into this. So that more of us will produce realistic renders with the paid version of nxt render and we will be able to encourage other users of other more advanced…See More
