AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

I need to render several large animals for a project I am working on.

I can find surface models of the animals at Sketchup/3D-warehouse with .png files mapped to them. See the attached files for an example.

How do I translate or rework these to render with nXtRender for AutoCAD?

Maybe the answer is to create the animals as RPC's?

See the attached as my first attempt to create a custom RPC.

The bison works just fine in nXt. You'll just have to join all of the 3d faces together first and then map the image to the surface. I used the planar mapping here.

I didn't bother with the horns, but you could map those separately if you need more detail.

How do I join all the 3d faces together?

The model you supplied has polymesh faces. I exploded them into 3D faces first. Converted them to surfaces (CONVTOSURFACE) and then used UNION to make them into one object.

There are some LISP routines out there that will join polyface meshes together as well that will cut out a step or two.

thanks Garret............explode to 3dfaces.......that was the step I was missing
