AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Whenever I use the indirect lighting variable on an exterior shot, the scene looks specaled.  Is there a way to reduce the specals in the scene?  Usually it's a product of light hitting a reflective material and causing specks all over the place.

Any advice?

Thank you,

Mark

It may be that you need to let it run for longer.

How many passes was this one?

Please excuse me for being off the subject Mark but Peter can you please accept my friend request?   There is some important business I'd like to discuss with you.  Thank you.

I'm afraid I don't do "friends".

I am employed by Sven Christiansen Plc and the rendering work I do is purely internal for the design and promotion of our furniture. We do not offer it as an independant service.

I have been running it for up to 50 passes.  I wonder if I should lower the refraction or reflected numbers on the main rendering tab?

You may need to go for more, say 200.

Make sure your glass material has transparency = 1.0 and reflective sharpness = 1.0

Then use IOR to create more or less reflection.

I will give it a try.  Thanks for the advice.

I find the random white specs to be appearing regardless of the model.  I think it's the bounces off of a glass surfaces or something.  Should I change a variable in the Material perhaps?

Like I said, there may not be much you can do in this scene.  The exterior indirect lighting was designed mainly for light coming from the sky.  It's going to be quite noisy for this example.  You might try using the other form of Indirect lighting which is designed for interiors, since most of your light is coming from light sources.

I will try using the indirect interior variable.  Thanks-
Would it not be worth it to have another preset for night time renderings? In THIS thread is some valuable info, I am only struggling on what would be the best way implementing it...
This is only applicable to the Packet Tracer engine.  The Path Tracer doesn't care much about the presets.

Thanks, Roy.

Given this information: "It might be possible to do it with accurate data as well.  Moonlight is technically about 500,000 times weaker than sunlight (0.000002) .  The problem is that you may run into some threshold illumination levels with nXt-- I believe that 0.001 cd/m^2 is as low as you can go.  Luminance in direct moonlit areas with reflective surfaces should still be in the range of 0.04 cd /m^2-- that's ok-- it's everything else I would worry about",

How my lighting setup for a nighttime rendering should look like?

  • Am I supposed to use autosky turned down to 0.00... ?
  • or night HDR turned down to ?? ?

...I did not have much luck with "channels only" approach yet...
