AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Whenever I use the indirect lighting variable on an exterior shot, the scene looks specaled.  Is there a way to reduce the specals in the scene?  Usually it's a product of light hitting a reflective material and causing specks all over the place.

Any advice?

Thank you,

Mark

This is not the correct thread for this-- BTW-- you're hijacking it.

This stuff isn't rocket science.  You need to turn the environmental lighting down to nighttime appropriate levels.  This can be done either using the channels or the settings or both-- it doesn't matter which but it's more interactive using channels.  Start with 0.001.  Once you've done that you will also need to turn the brightness down-- try -0.4 or so-- to account for scotopic (low-light) vision.  Saturation should probably be turned down as well for the same reason.

Send me an example if you're having problems.

I am highjacking it?  I am confused.  Did you mean me?

Anyway, on the original topic:  I fixed the problem.  I changed the glass materials to transparency = 1.0 and reflective sharpness = 1.0

Then I used the Interior indirect lighting variable rather than the exterior as you (Roy) suggested.  Also, I turned the Ambient lighting way down to around .400

Seems to have done the trick.

I will repost the corrected image later.

Thank you,

Mark

Nope, it was your (Mark's) thread, your question, no problems here whatsoever.  User Ros. Riha wanted to talk about something else related to night rendering.  This is perfectly fine, but he should start a new thread or reply to an existing, more relevant one.  Otherwise it gets very confusing for everyone and people can't tell what questions are being answered.

Looking forward to seeing how the image turns out.

You could try doing 2 renders and then composite them in Phototshop:

One with indirect lighting on and no interior lights.

The second with no indirect light and interior lights on.

Hmmm.  I will look at that.  Thanks-
Peter, please, what is the advantage of this approach over the use of channels?

No advantage. I was just suggesting a possible workaround if nothing else worked.
