AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Update Legacy Drawing doesn't seem to find the old materials anymore.

A huge number of may furniture CAD blocks have some materials assigned by object.

It used to be that I could press the update button, the legacy materials would appear and I could then update them or leave them as necessary.

Assigned decals would also appear, but they no longer do.

I certainly haven't changed anything in this area in a long time.  Upload an example drawing and let me know the steps in the comment field-- I'll take a look at it.

Okay. This is a new drawing with a desk inserted into it.

When you update there should be a black plastic and a chrome material assigned to the desk feet.

Hmmm.... definitely getting materials on the legs.  Can't find the SVEN lib, of course.  Your drawing had a black bg so I had to change that to make the materials visible.

I'm not getting that.

Vista 64 bit, AutoCAD 2011.

I'm getting exactly the same: no material in the drawing.

Acad 2011 - nxt 279 - win 7 64bit

No clue why-- it's looking for something called _ACCURENDER.mlib.  You might want to make sure it's on the search path.  I certainly haven't changed anything intentionally in this area.

How come it shows up in your render and not mine.

If it was a search path thing then you wouldn't get it either.

Maybe you could send me an old format model that you know will update okay.

It's on my search path because I put it there (a while back.)  The library is not included with nXt, nor will the search path be automatically added (64 bit machines have never seen legacy versions.)  Check the search path.

This drawing is a good example of one that will update okay.  It doesn't even require you to choose the Update Legacy Drawing-- it goes through the automatic update when you load it (it has never been updated.)

Well, I've tried adding in the old mlib paths, but it makes no difference.

It still doesn't explain why it used to work and now it doesn't.

The search path should be d:\accuren3\Common\Support.  Try that one (without the _accurender on the end.)  You may need to restart Acad after you do this (or maybe not-- try both.)

Sorted.

That did the trick, though I still don't know why it was working before and then suddenly changed.

Thanks Roy.

Not sure either.  Something subtle may have changed about the way you work with the drawings.  Some search paths are automatic, such as the directory where the model is, the directory where the executable is located, etc..  If you were originally doing this on a 32 bit system w/ legacy versions installed, nXt would have found the old search paths.

CAN WE GET PETER MILNER TO TRAIN SOME OF US FOR A TOKEN ?

Good day, forum members,I was thinking that we could each, if interested, contribute a significant token to give Peter Milner and David to train us virtually in nxt render for Autocad. Am not sure he still uses it but the experience he has spanning over 20 years cannot be underestimated. I wish the forum co-ordinators could look into this. So that more of us will produce realistic renders with the paid version of nxt render and we will be able to encourage other users of other more advanced…See More
