For sky background picture try to use much larger bitmap, controlling also its colour tone to match the rendering. I am using almost 100% transparency for background (alpha channel in resulting image) in order to be able to place bitmap in GIMP. Make sure that the sky image is at least 1.5 time wider than your image. You will be able to move it and scale it accordingly, to create believable background.

For grass use physical photo. There are several nicely looking grass bitmaps out there, you can start from accustudio, there are some suitable. I use always to do some post process in GIMP using cloning brush, to retouch areas where grass meets hard surfaces using grass - blade brush. The result looks much more believable and natural.

For glass try to use the standard nXt glass material. Keep in mind, that glass needs something to reflect to look more like glass. You can place 3dfaces with decals of environment outside the frame somewhere to the left of the camera, which will be reflected in the windows. Make sure you disable the shadow casting for that objects. Also you could try to use HDRI image for reflected background. Use high resolution HDRI files for better results.

Unfortunately, I am not using nXt any more for some time now, so maybe some things I suggest aren't easy or even possible. Some other nXt users could help better, for reference you could take a look at Chris Fox's renderings, he is one of my favourite artists of exterior pictures, you will find them absolutely inspirational.

George Loannidis, Thanks for the input. I have always had a problem with glass and grass... any suggestions? What would you recommend for the sky? Your help is greatly appreciated! Ed

Beautiful model.

Sky background needs change.

ground needs a better texture

the red tree in the front could be cutout better than the procedural nXt tree.

windows glass material needs work, doesn't look like glass

sidewalk material pattern repeating, maybe some seamless texture could be used.

Once again, fantastic house model.

"The wooden texture of the TV-Console looks quite decent. The Wallpaper on the left has an interesting structure, maybe it would look even better, if you make the texture seamless + applying a little bit of depth, e. g. with highpass - filter in PS?"

"Found 'Textured Mesh Support' only works with obj and 3ds Files which do not contain PBR Maps. To 'obj' converted newer 3ds do not render in nXt :-("

OBJ Plant Issue - Diffuse Maps

Hi to anyone;maybe a similar issue as Mr.Holz announced recently, (PBR Texture question):-added a obj. plant via 'Textured Mesh Objects' widget-reassigned maps (materials showed up, but with no maps attached, (although mtl. files are  in the same folder as corresponding maps and obj files)-tried to render (see 'result')So my question is: Does anybody knew about how to handle Diffuse Maps in nXt, i suspect there is no interpretation of the UV-Coordinates?Any hints and help kindly appreciated!…See More
