It cannot be that bad, all over because here in Nigeria, we have architect turn contractors and there down play or architects fees just to get the construction started, other professionals are catching on it too, even the banking industry, would rather employ the services of a contractor and give him the brief and let him come up with the design and Bill of Quantity. Clients have told me not to bother designing for them but just to pick up one from my archive. Some even tell me take whatever am offering you, after all you can still use the same design for thirty other clients later.
What I advise other Architects, is this get other sources of inform and then stick with the principles of the profession. When people find other they cannot get it any other way they learn to respect the profession. Easier said than done, even i find it difficult.
All in all we must not allow it kill the talent which takes years of learning and even more in experience to master.

Same here in South America, or maybe worse.

Yes Marc, unfortunately this is happening here as well. Architect is always treated as "the last wheel of the wagon"

Nice mediterranean architecture, I would like to see it in south of france. 99% of what is done here, is cheap shit... under 170 m², everyone can build his house, without architecte, so you can imagine what is happening...

George-- when you get a chance-- create an album with your name as the title and put your photos in it (including the one I'm currently featuring.) I'll feature the album after you do this.
