I have looked at where you are going and personally it seems to me that where you are at looks better!
Thanks really, I just love the calm morning bright feel, work to be able the replicate it with Nxt.

I would start with campus probe as your HDRI sky, I would put cloudiness to 0.4 and sun intensity to 0.7... then I would run two channels rendering.

Obviously, if you have real morning sky HDR image, the result would be even better. The above are settings we are generally satisfied with

Would I run this with path Tracer or Packet Tracer?
Path Tracer ... we basically stopped using the Packet Tracer at all - even on exterior renderings it seems to show earlier, whether the final rendering will be good, so despite it is slower, you get to your result faster
What would the intensity of the HDRi be.

50 passes, and still going, what am I missing. What would an early morning HDRi look like?

well, in my country this would be very close... try to save as nxtimage and play with channels - maybe more sun and less sky...

also be careful to orient your HDR properly - if there is sun in it, you need to rotate it to correspond with the position of the sun.

please find attached - someone did post a link to it here some time ago - I do not know if it is calibrated, but you can give it a try...

Thanks, where the sun will be if there is one and the direction would be were I get stuck. How do you detect that and its orientation?

By the more tweaking, another HDRi at intensity 150, still maintaining other earlier given parameters.

Looking at this early_morning.hdr it correspond to an evening setting here in Nigeria.
