advanced rendering for AutoCAD
obj files
Has anyone got any ideas why a particular obj file might disappear when I try to turn it into an AutoCAD mesh?

Hi Peter. I don't have an answer to your question, but I have, in the past, had good and bad experiences with OBJ's and AutoCAD. Usually if the files originate from Europe, I hold my breath. No help I'm afraid.

I had two files from the same source. The only difference was that one was much bigger than the other with a much finer mesh. This was the one that didn't work. Anyway, I got them to send it to me as an iges file which I then translated into a sat file and imported into AutoCAD.

You can send me the file, if you like. I'd estimate we're only reading about 75% of them reliably-- there are many poorly formed ones out there and I'm not supporting the entire standard in any case. It isn't an area I've worked on a lot-- I did make some improvements for nXtStudio and I may be able to leverage some of that code.
