AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

How do you attach material by layer to AracTexturedMeshObjects created by Nxt when you add 3dsin files.

When models downloaded from Google 3d warehouse one just needs to edit the material in the material list. From other sources am just not as lucky.

Attaching mater by object does not seem to do the trick too.

You can't change the materials assigned to an intact textured mesh object, either by object or by layer.  These are supposed to be objects with pre-assigned materials and mappings.    If you import objects without materials you're mostly out of luck.

You can sometimes convert the thing to an AutoCAD mesh (use the menu command provided).  It will lose any pre-assigned materials and mapping info at that point.  It can be further exploded into faces and "re-meshed" using some other geometry tools.  3dsin may be a better bet for this sort of thing.

If yo use 3dsin, you tell it to separate by layer or by texture. That might work better. At least it may separate things for you.
Will try the 3dsin by layer, being doing it by material. Exploding to faces and remeshing I want to keep away from. Right now I export to sketchup and reassign layers then bring back via Nxt then reassign materials.
