AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Hi

When we used to use Ar2, 3 & 4 we had a folder called digital entourage. This was just as it sound a group of materials that were quick & easy to assign; brick, carpet, plastic laminate, eifs, etc. If my memory is correct this was from a disk that McNeel marketed many years ago. When we transferred to NXT I did the convert legacy library and many if not most updated and looked and acted as expected. Yesterday, I went back to the library to pull a specific material from there and the entire folder was populated by black orbs instead of the correct preview. I did an edit on a couple of these and found that no mater where the color settings were they still showed black orbs as the preview. Also all of the maps were missing. I don't know if the maps were there before but the previews looked fine and the materials assigned and rendered. So last night I went back to the base directory where the originals materials were and ran the convert legacy materials agian. This morning I have more black orbs.

Any ideas here? Somewhere along the line I was having trouble with some of the legacy glass materials, that was not a hard thing to overcome as we have lots of newer glass materials that are quick & easy to edit. Unfortunately for quick rendering on some project the digital entourage was a useful tool to just grab a few things and go. I'd hate to have to create/recreate too many of these - it kind of defeats the purpose.

This is very likely a search path problem-- you need to make sure nXt can find the textures associated with the materials.  I'm pretty sure (but not 100% sure), that the converter now produces embedded textures, so once the thing is converted it should be portable.

Thanks Roy

I'm not sure why but the paths in my NXT settings were missing several entries. I restored them and started the convert process over again. This time it does seem to be working as I can get previews that have the .jpg images from my desktop explorer.

Thanks again

CAN WE GET PETER MILNER TO TRAIN SOME OF US FOR A TOKEN ?

Good day, forum members,I was thinking that we could each, if interested, contribute a significant token to give Peter Milner and David to train us virtually in nxt render for Autocad. Am not sure he still uses it but the experience he has spanning over 20 years cannot be underestimated. I wish the forum co-ordinators could look into this. So that more of us will produce realistic renders with the paid version of nxt render and we will be able to encourage other users of other more advanced…See More
