AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Hello all,

I have tried searching threads on this discussion but couldnt find an answer.

As per the attached image, My decal which is FACE mapped with a TIF (with invisible alpha channel for the background), it seems to be casting a shadow.

1) I have tagged it as Thin, In Luminaire settings I have tagged No reflections/shadows) but the problem is still persistant.

2) Also, what does one do when a similar decal casts a milky rectangular shape when its supposed to be invisible (not the case here but I thought we could tackle 2 issues in one thread). In the old days we used to Increase the Transparency Level.

regards

It's very hard to tell what's happening here without seeing the model.   In general, neither of the two settings you mention in (1) will make any difference-- checking Transparent masking is all you need to do.  It automatically sets the surface as Thin and the IOR as 1.0 in the masked areas.  Different reflected/refracted backgrounds can cause stuff like this.  So can coincident transparent surfaces (sometimes.)  Hard to say.  Go ahead and upload the model if you want me to debug it.

I'll need an example of (2) as well if you really want to have a useful answer.

Try tagging the decal as double-sided before you send it.

Hi Roy,

Yes, you were absolutely correct about the Tagging on both sides. It worked and makes complete sense!

About scenario 2, when I come across it, I will forward you the file.

thanks & regards!
