AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Hi Guys,

I’ve just been to http://www.arroway-textures.com/ and downloaded some of their free low-res samples which come in map sizes of 3000px x 360px. These files are in .rar format.  I’m not sure how to use them in NXT and even if it is at all possible.

Also I would like to experiment using bump maps, in particular using wood textures, to try to attain a higher level of realism. Could any of you guys refer me to any links, tutorials or pass postings that could help me? Many thanks, Sean

.rar is a compression format, like .zip.  Many free or near-free utilities can decompress these.  Here's one of them.  The textures themselves will likely be in a format we can read.

Thanks Roy, Downloaded the software you recommended and decompressed one set of wood textures. These came as 3 separate images which I'm presuming can be used to create bump maps.

Hoping that someone will come back to me with guidance on creating bumps. Fingers crossed...

See what happens if you create a "Texture Set" material.  You may be able to simply select all three files and have nXt create the material for you.  Ask for help if that doesn't work.

Thanks again Roy, That worked. Attached materials and rendered. Not overly impressed with the results at this stage probably because I haven't ajusted the bumps. Not really sure what I'm looking for...I was hoping the wood grain would look more 3D. Is that the general idea with bump maps?

Check here!

You'll need to include things like pictures and material files if you want actual help.  Otherwise people will just be guessing.
