advanced rendering for AutoCAD
Hello,
I can't seem to start up Accurender nXt
After downloading and installation accurender states that simply typing "nXt" in the commandline will start it. -With me it doesn't.
I've tried apploading the AccuRender nXt.arx -got the message 'unable to load the .arx'
apploading AccuRender nXt_18_.arx didn't do the trick either.
I'm running AutoCAD 2010 on Windows XP Pro, 32 bits
thnx, Guido

Might the problem be caused by accurender 4 being loaded?
Unlikely-- it should load anyway.
The version you want is definitely AccuRender nXt_18_.arx-- look for additional error messages on the command line. They may be helpful.
_18_.arx did load, but still I get the message:
Unknown command "NXT". Press F1 for help. no additional error messages.
also after restarting Autocad, with -18-.arx in the Startup Suite
Try "ar5"
ar5 is also an unknown command
So-- after apploading AccuRender nXt_18_.arx you still cannot type ar5 at the command line?
If so, check your AutoCAD command line carefully for any errors which occurred during the appload.
I just reloaded the arx.;
I checked the commandline above the three lines visible (..sorry, I did get an error message..):
C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2010\ArAcad_18_.arx/ ArAcTexturedMesh_18_.arx/ aracobjects_18_.arx cannot find a dll or other file
that it needs.
AccuRender nXt_18_.arx successfully loaded.
...so I've just added the accurender program folder to my list of Support File Search Paths, and now typing nXt results in starting accurender next!
(..maybe this should have been included in the installation intstructions?)
No it shouldn't.
You've got something wrong with your installation and it's quite possible something will break in the future. I'm not sure why you've installed to a folder named AutoCAD 2010-- that may be a clue. It's possible nXt has been installed to a few different folders-- or that a folder has been renamed after installation.
In any case, try starting an AutoCAD session and typing "nXt" without apploading. It should start normally with no error messages.
Hello Guido, I had the same problem, when I run Accurender nXt in a first time.
If you want, you can try the same thing that I did.
Run AUTOCAD, open the browser menu, then open the "tool box", after that, open the "load application", into the "file name" box, type the path, C:\program files\accurender nXt.arx, then click the "load" box.
Do the same with C:\program files\accurender nXt_18_
It solve the problem for me.
Good luck.
Hello Roy,
I didn't install to the AutoCAD folder, I just followed the default suggestion folder, being accurender nXT.
Only when the command 'nXt' didn't result in starting accurender I copied all the .arx files I could find in the accurender folder to the AutoCAD folder and tried apploading them. And only after also adding the accurender nxt-path to the support file path accurender would start.
However, now running nXt I find it very slow in comparison to AR4 which I still run. So maybe something went wrong during installation. I wonder what. I've installed nXt two times, because obviously I already hought something went not quite the way it should have. First -with me it doesn't work the way the installation guided me, because I had to load the .arx....
I will once again unload everything, uninstall nXt, install nXt anew, and if the command nxt doesn't start accurender, I will load the arx from the location it will be installed to, and not relocating it. I will keep you posted.
Thanks so far anaway!
In addition:
I can not find nXt in the Windows Configuration\Software listing, so I can't uninstall it (I do see accurender 4.0 in my list) is this an indication of nXt not being properly installed?
And also in the windows registry i see little traces of nXt, while I doo see all sorts of listings for 4.0
