Instancing of nXt plants

I feel like this has been asked before but I can't find the answer.

 

Does nXt utilize instancing for nXt plants if the plant block is copied?

No.  If it contains a plant, a light source (including daylight sources), or an object tagged as caustic, the block is not instantiable.

Can't remember offhand why I excluded plants-- pretty sure it was a precision thing.  Instancing does cause some loss of precision and the plants were already pretty difficult.  They do make use of instancing internally.

Does the same apply to textured mesh Roy? Are these objects instantiable?

Yes, a block with textured meshes inside is instantiable.

so, if I understand well, if I simply copy a plant, it does instancing by itself because it is a plant?

No.  There are repeating elements within the structure of an individual plant that are instanced.
