you need photoshop, great patience, and steady hand...:)

it took me 15min....for best result....google water puddles images and try to do the same shape....

Well Mike, it's nice technique and fast. But, to be 100% honest, it was not exactly what I'd expected. I thought you did puddles in 3D (regions, solids or whatever), giving them high reflectivity or even water material for correct reflection on it. In the suggested tutorial video there was a part, where author did several "faked" reflections (telephone booth, commercial signs etc.) I'll try to do some tests if real puddles will give similar results.

not even 3d max vray could do that...:D  but very effective.......you are just adding the finishes touches to your image...:)....try it with a cloudy misty day....you can down load wet pavements textures from cgtextures.com....:)

AND HERE ANOTHER ONE...:)

Or just use a material.

I think this was a mix of "Renee's Asphalt" and Granite Procedural.

Now this I love.

nice alternative...but it doesn't give a  great control where the puddles are on the road....normally puddles are by the street kerb because of the dip in the road to collect rain water ,very rarely in the middle of the road.

That is its drawbacks. Just another option.

Could also combine both methods and use a larger hand painted mask to fine tune it.

AND HERE IS ANOTHER ONE FOR FLOODED BRITAIN...:)

Now that looks more familiar, except it's not deep enough.
