AccuRender nXt

When i turn off path tracer function my image looks just fine.

But, when i turn path tracer on, im getting a strange looking shadow on my image.

Please see attachements.

Do you have any tips?

I had a problem like this .....

Displacement maps you used in your brick wall? I think that's the problem.

Using normal maps or bump, weigh less processor and does not leave these artifacts, at least in path tracer rendering option ....

Yes-- displacement mapping is a good bet for this.  The skinny triangles created by AutoCAD's tesselation can cause problems for the ray tracer (although, I would expect to see these with both engines.)

If not, check to make sure that your units are correct and that your coordinates are not too large.

If neither of these guesses turns out to be correct, you may need to send the model.

I took all the materials out, but the problem is still there.

It shows even more when you zoom in.

Even when the tracer is turned off, with all the materials out, it still shows a bit.

But, when i zoom out a lot, its gone.

Please take a look at the attachements.

Please give me the link if you want me to shend the model.

Here's the upload link-- it's always available on the support menu.  Have you looked at units and coordinates?  If the model is too far from the origin, or if the units are wrong, this sort of thing can happen as well.
The model is pretty far from the origin.  Move it closer and I'm pretty sure the artifacts will go away.

Tried it and it works. thanks for the advice!

Good discussion and solution, thanks Roy. And Zdravko, is the error still there if you now render with Displacement Map + Pathtracer?

regards

I have never run a test but I wonder at what point a model is "FAR" from the origin.

It would be interesting to note if there is a point at which these artifacts start showing up more and more. If it is just a general rule that a distant model is prone to these effects perhaps a simple check of the coordinates by AR5 nXt could alert the User that their model is far from the origin and that artifacts might result.

Just a simple prompt to help the uninitiated (more user-friendly)

Has "FAR" from the origin been locked down yet?
