AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Hi folks,

I cobbled up a guide (very ambitious term I could say) how I created 3D tile roof. Enjoy it :)

Regards

Very nice. Can you explain a bit how do you model the roof ridges?

See the following video.

For simple roofs this is just a game :) For more complex ones (and they are ALWAYS more complex unfortunately :) ) you have to model parts separately.

Video is excellent only I will have to explode the model so I can the various slopes as the mapping of the falls will be different.
For me I draw a line for the path along the ridge and extrude a circle along it.
Must say I love this style too.
With a little help from my nXt friends... A little upgrade for the power users. Here is a material with displacement map. You can change the color and the size of the displacement.

And I take advantage of your wonderful post to give my way to "simulate" the roof tiles. But you will see that my method don't include the row of the bottom. And so you will expose yourselfs to some criticism... ;o)))))

The shelling part is why I usually get stuck as at time it works most times it does not.

Great idea Marc! Easier way to create one single tile could be the following. I think classic Spanish tile roof looks more "tileroofish" in renderings than the roman one. I'll consider that in my next roof :)

At the end is better to convert to mesh from solid for the sake of the file size and this I also believe impacts on the rendering.

George, a little precision. You have to invert the tiles of the row of the bottom... And it will be perfect.

I realized it after posting my reply :) Of course I have to, that is the way it is done on the site. You are absolutely right Marc. And your guiding illustrations are exceptional!

@Akinlolu

Did you test the size (and consequently the speed of rendering) with file having solid and mesh for the same model? Does the size of drawing file or the number of total polygons NXT creates during the translation process of model matters? Maybe Roy could kindly answer that.
