AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

E-mail from the desk of Bob McNeel:

"If you are a designer and not a rendering geek, nXt is for you."

Reality has finally reared it's ugly head,  I am a geek after all.

I wonder if Bob is implying: "Rendering geeks look elseware."

I do not know about that... it may be easy to grow accustomed to all the quirks and special adjustments needed to run the software, but a neophyte to AR5 would need to have a bit of rendering geek just to get off the ground. Easy to use and user friendly are two different things.

The full quote that Rich is responding to is from today’s McNeel automatic e-mail letter.

Quote:
If you are a designer and not a rendering geek, nXt is for you. nXt provides exceptional image quality with easy setup and quick results.

AccuRender nXt is now available for 32 and 64-bit AutoCAD 2007-2011.

The eval version is free, doesn't expire, and only has a few limitations. Download the eval and give it a try.

Special introductory price of $199
until November 30, 2010

More details...

Note: nXt is also available for Rhino, SketchUp, and Revit.

Enjoy,
- Bob McNeel

(you know that ‘eval’ is not a word?)
what is wrong with that?
Rendering geek uses other software (MAX, Maxwell or similar - no question these offer more tools, options, effects), knows each of hundreds of settings and spends his days tweaking them to insanity. OTOH typical nXt user to me seems to be an architect, designer....somebody who has to divide his day into various tasks and rendering is only one of them, so he needs something simpler, he needs a renderer that is not demanding to be a rendering geek to be able to get something out of it...
The beauty of nXt to me lies in the fact nXt is - even with this limited set of controls and with its ease of use - competitive.
The biggest advantage that nXt has is that I can carry on designing and modelling in AutoCAD (over 20 years experience) rather than trying to get to grips with a different modelling package such as Max or trying to import AutoCAD drawings into alternative rendering software.
I need to use AutoCAD for other aspects of my work anyway so cost is another major factor.

Peter
Ten hours of training is enough to bring you on board with Nxt. Not so with max or other. Artlantis yes but cost no no.

CAN WE GET PETER MILNER TO TRAIN SOME OF US FOR A TOKEN ?

Good day, forum members,I was thinking that we could each, if interested, contribute a significant token to give Peter Milner and David to train us virtually in nxt render for Autocad. Am not sure he still uses it but the experience he has spanning over 20 years cannot be underestimated. I wish the forum co-ordinators could look into this. So that more of us will produce realistic renders with the paid version of nxt render and we will be able to encourage other users of other more advanced…See More

3D_Replication final

I created this replication of one of Peter Milner's renders, not with AI but with sketchup (with the matchnewphoto tool), autocad and nxtrender.Critics and comments are welcome.
