Hard to tell. Glass material is transparent and reflective by default, so it will be reflecting the opposite part of the 3D world of your model. I think it receives shadows ordinarily as any other entity but due to its reflectance that shadows become not visible, as the reflected things are generally much lighter. They simply cover any possible shadow on the glass surface with their brightness. This is a guess though, so Roy could explain these things better I think.
