AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

We recently became aware of the AutoCAD App to import SKP files into AutoCAD

SketchUp Import

This could be handy for adding stadard items - people, trees, etc. from the 3D Warehouse into AutoCAD.

It works pretty well for a lot of things, but there are some things - such as PhotoMatch materials, textures which have been rotated, skewed or scaled, and images which do not work well.

Has anyone used it, and/or run into any problems with it?

But do you need an autodesk ID to download it?

Looks like you do - but I presume all you have to do is give them your email, etc.

It translates geometry very nice, but SU materials (which use bitmaps etc.) are translated into AutoCAD materials, which are not usable by nXt. One must create new nXt materials... That is why I prefer built-in 3ds or obj textured objects import of nXt.

Has the nXt Obj importer been useful?

The purpose for my original question was to see if it made sense to add .SKP as one of the formats for the .obj importer and/or to see if it would have value for people who to do use nXt to be able to import SKP files and also directly from the 3D Warehouse.

From the site it looks that it is only compatible with ACAD 2013. Has anybody tried with 2012?

I think it would be very useful. There were times (quite many) when I did use 3D Warehouse models, though the way of importing them into nXt is slightly complicated (but not difficult, if you can use other software like SU, AccuTrans or Blender3D). Most of 3D warehouse models are rather simple an suitable only for quick 3D sketchy presentations. If you go for more "real" pictures, you can find more complex and in detail modelled and textured stuff.

And finally , the more one application is opened to the outside world the higher usability it has. So why not nXt? :)

I second that, I use 3d Warehouse models a lot in AutoCad, Roy promised to look into the issue way back then.

Where is the site, I like to take a look, have both AutoCad 2012 and 2013 on my system.

It's the link in first discussion opened by Albert (SketchUp Import).

Yes not compatible. It would not even show up in the plugin tab.

CAN WE GET PETER MILNER TO TRAIN SOME OF US FOR A TOKEN ?

Good day, forum members,I was thinking that we could each, if interested, contribute a significant token to give Peter Milner and David to train us virtually in nxt render for Autocad. Am not sure he still uses it but the experience he has spanning over 20 years cannot be underestimated. I wish the forum co-ordinators could look into this. So that more of us will produce realistic renders with the paid version of nxt render and we will be able to encourage other users of other more advanced…See More
