AccuRender nXt

advanced rendering for AutoCAD

Any suggestions on reducing the amount of repetition in the brick material?  I remember there used to be a way to do a procedural brick with vary leaf option to produce a random brick blend which is what this building will have.

I've attached my two texture maps that I've played around with.  I've had decent success with using these on past renderings without real noticeable tiling but this camera view is much farther away from the target source which only makes the effect more visible.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Mirroring the texture maps can make a slight improvement but i have the same problem with similar textures. The easiest way for me is to use arroway textures. They work very well for views like this

You might consider taking a single brick & making a tile pattern/brick pattern using the tools in NXT & then adding the % of color that most closely resembles your brick blend. You'll never see the tiling at that scale, the question is can you get a resonable looking blend. The mortar joints should be no issue to match the color close enough without using an image. At the scale of the first image this should do the trick.

Good Luck

other then a larger sample with more variation.. not really.

Theres not much call for brick in my neck of the woods, but maybe theres a way to blend you textures with a tile procedural to get some random variation

The first texture needs to be mirrored to come close to being correct. Look at the variation in color from each row on the left as compared to the same row on the right.

The second texture is not useable without a lot of work because the vertical grout lines don't work out even if mirrored. Just a poor image to use for this type of material.

IMHO

I've tried a couple of times since yesterday to post a Nxt material for brick but it just locks up my IE.

sorry

You can upload it and I'll post it.
Here's Chas's stuff.

you can find better free seamless brick textures at cgtextures. For instance:

You can download Seamless Texture Creator.

  1. Try arroway textures - there should be some free samples ... you can also search the internet - your samples are too small
  2. Try to add some slight rubble - it will create random patches, that are slightly darker, than the rest.
  3. Create complex material - start with granite, big scale, make the size of the spots to be almost the same as base...use the same texture both for base and spot, but make its strength 0.8 or similar - thus you can adjust the color slightly to give you desired variance...you can also slightly vary the scale

Try AcmeBrick Masonry Designer also. It produces beautiful, large masonry textures, so you can forget about repetition effect at last. It's free.

Another one I've been using...likely very similar.
