advanced rendering for AutoCAD
Hi all,
I have a request to submit to Roy which I don't know if it could be feaseble: quite often I have to assign materials by object instead of by layer, but especially in complex drawings it gets impossible to remember ALL the object which have material assigned. It is true that by selecting an object AutoCAD tells you if it has material attached, but I thinks it would be great to have a comand in the materials tab or in the object property that could tell you somehow if some materials are attached to some objects or/and viceversa. It might be a sort of selection-by-material filter. I think that would be fantastic!

Thanks Roy,
unfortunately AutoLisp and I we live in different planets!!
What about the possibility to have material information in the object properties tab when selecting an object? I mean that it would be usefull to have a double-sense information on layers/objects-materials.
Daniel Lord of anti-light and Bill G are to name a few.
It's already there.
Select an object, right click and choose Properties.
Under 3D Visualization you'll see Material. This will either be By Layer or have a material assigned. You can also change the material here.
To select objects by material, type QSELECT. Choose an object type such as 3D Solid, select Material under properties and the under Value select the material you are looking for.
This only works for materials assigned by object.
Thanks Peter,
I actually were thinking of something more accurate: selecting a material would make appear a sort of list with assignments by layer or object, or selecting an object would appear if it has material assigned by layer or by object (an WHICH material).
