guys guys guys...slateis a natural element .....so no gloss finish
thanks for samples, peter .... actually, almost all materials do possess certain level of reflectivity ... there was some discussion a while ago, where roy posted quite useful pdf, made by a lighting manufacturer (i believe) where were discussed reflectivities of white matte paint, rough cconcrete etc... to me it seems worth it to add at least small amount to almost any material
The man is not for turning....:))))
Peter que configuracion minima de brillo necesitan los materiales? seguntu experiencia?
For this type of floor I would suggest trying the following as a starting point:
Intensity - 0.15
Sharpnes - 0.1
Fresnel - 0.7
This type of artifact is not unexpected from small bright sources reflected in a "near-specular" surface. It is a limitation of the rendering algorithm. The Path Tracer will probably do a better job with this, although if the light path bounces on the mirror cylinder before striking the source it may consider this a caustic path and exclude it. Post-processing with PhotoShop or eq. (like you did) is probably your best bet.
