New nXtRender 0343-NI04

We have released a new version of nXtRender for AutoCAD - version 0343-NI04

This release includes both some Core Engine changes and some User Interface changes.

Version Numbers

343 is the nXt engine version number like we have been using in the past. NI04 is the release date (N=2014, I=September 04=day of month). This longer version number lets us have several UI change releases per base engine release and still keep track of them.

Licensing and Renewals

Everyone who purchased or renewed nXtRender anytime in 2013 or 2014 will be able to use this, and all new releases in 2014 without having to renew their license. (Normally you need to renew you license after 12 months to use new versions).

People who have not upgraded to nXtRender from AccuRender nXt (AR5) will need to renew their license to use this version. See: Renewals

New Features

- A few core changes have been made since the last version, such as a fix where the Hybrid engine interior simulation direct sunlight soft shadows was not resolving properly.

- You can now drag and drop materials from File Explorer into the nXt Material Pallet

- Lighting Channel was added as a column for the Lights list.
- And you can now sort the Light list by clicking on any column header.

- You can now sort the Layer Material list by clicking on any column header.

Layer Material Scheme opens in 32 bit versions of AutoCad without Apploading, but freezes AutoCad once you click the save button it freezes the session. Task Manager to the resure.

I cannot duplicate this here either.

Do you happen have the "Add-ons for nXtRender" package installed on your machine?

That would cause all kinds of problems, since it included older versions of the nXt modules. Look in:

C:\Users\rich\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins

and make sure that there aren't any old "nXtRender.Bundle" folders in there.

No addons installed. In the 64 bits versions, after the needed appload, the Layer Material Schemes work once you click the bottons but in an attempt the save the present scheme it freezes, both in AutoCad 2014 and 2015.

The latest version of nXtRender posted is version 354_OE08.

It included a fix for RPC planar objects in AutoCAD 2016.

That page for the latest releases seems to have been deleted. We'll fix that and/or created a new page.

Here is an explanation of the version numbers we are using now.

The are now two components to the version number.

For example: for 0337-NI15:

  0337 refers to the number of the AccuRender toolkit used.

  NI15 refers to the date that we built the version. N = 2014, I15 = September 15th.

0338-NK21 would be the version that we built on Nov. 21, 2014 with the 0338 toolkit.

The latest version posted was 0354-OE08. OE08 tells me that it was posted May 8, 2015. It was built with the 0354 AccuRender toolkit, the latest one.

We will try to show the full license number on both dialogs in the future, to avoid confusion.

I am not sure where to post this, but I recently installed Windows 10 and downloaded the latest version of nxt render.

When I load nxt into autocad I get a message saying it is evaluation copy, even though it then tells me that it is authorized.

But worst, AutoCAD crashes. Actually the computer crashes. No ctl Alt Del.

Anyone else with this problem?
